THE BUS-kinG Project
The RYSS BUSking Project has come to an end but we are so excited to share the amazing outcomes we have had from this Youth-led project. This Youth Opportunities funding from NSW Government allowed The BUSking Project to get out and about at Central Coast community events to showcase the exceptional musical talent of our local young people.
The BUSking Project engaged young people in all facets of project with event planning, marketing and execution. The Youth Crew organising committee started as a core group of 7 from the first planning meeting and evolved to 13 young volunteers for the delivery of our main Youth Week 2021 event a mini festival of young Central Coast music artists - MetroFest.
We engaged a total of 40 Central Coast young music artists over the course of the project. We had a young MC host the stage at all our events, young film-makers document the project and young sound engineers manage the stage and sound. Young participants promoted the events through various digital platforms and engaged their peers and community to be in attendance for the events.
The Busking Project employed 2 young music industry professionals who developed and presented a 3-hour Music Businesses 101 workshop young music artists to help them better develop skills for self-promotion and what to expect when embarking on the professional side of the music industry.
Our final part of the project gave 5 young artists a professional recording experience at The Grove Studios where their original songs were recorded by sound engineers and visually by a young film crew.
